C3 Crypto Conference Berlin Report
The 1st С3 Crypto Conference took place in Berlin, Germany on April 5 and 6, 2018. Organized by Paranoid Internet GmbH, the conference was a significant event, bringing together leading crypto experts, investors, projects and interested parties to learn about the latest innovations in cryptocurrencies, blockchain and related technologies.
More than 2500 people attended the event. There were 2 stages (main and ICO expo stage), exhibitors hall, workshops. The conference agenda was very intense with more than 35 speakers in main stage sessions, about 40 ICO pitches, 10 workshops and 15 panels.
Panel discussions about the future of traditional industries, related to the development of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology were held on the following topics: Future of Entertainment, Future of Money, Future of Commerce, Future of Security; Future of Corporate Business; Future of Art; Future of Centralized Markets and impact of decentralization in the banking sector; Future of Real Estate; Consulting and even Politics.
Victor Yermak participated in the Future of Money Panel. At the beginning of the discussion participants exchanged views “which future of money will be” and concluded that the future of money will not be purely cryptocurrency and we must pass significant transition period to adopt society and industries to the future technologies. Victor draw attention to the importance of the social aspect of cryptocurrencies and suggested that asset-based tokens will help society to adapt to new technologies and accept future in a more natural way.
After the panel, Victor unveiled Smartlands’ vision of the future of invest banking during the “Asset Tokenization is the Future of Investment” presentation. The presentation will be available on Smartlands website within few days.
Smartlands was not the only participant focused on the topic of assets tokenization in the different industries. Particularly, Smartlands had a long meeting with Yauhen Yakimovich, CTO Head Blockchain & Proptech at SwissRealCoin. SwissRealCoin is launching the professional real estate cryptocurrency. Yauhen shared his experience in real estate tokenization in Switzerland. Parties discussed business model and approach to ABT structuring, as well as agreed to continue dialogue and find opportunities to cooperate in the near future.
Also, we met with Davide Scola, Crypto Strategic Manager & Advisor for Fintech and Real Estate Companies, Vistalli Casa-BitcoinXcasa. The company is a well-known Northern Italy house builder specialized in holiday houses placed in lovely Italian locations, with the goal of bringing the Italian real estate to a new level of crypto development. Parties found a mutual interest to cooperate and agreed to continue communication.
Another fruitful meeting took place with real estate companies from Baltic and Eastern Europe. We discussed perspectives of partnership and starting joint projects.
The second day of the Conference was worth visiting at least to participate in the “Legal Frameworks for ICOs” panel with Florian Merkel, Manager & Co-Founder SMART START/KPMG AG and Adrian Wons Head of ICO Competence Center, EY. Adriana and Florian discussed a lot of ICO issues, compared progress of Germany to other countries and instilled a belief in the progressive work of the German legislature in the field of cryptocurrencies.
After the panel Victor met with Adrian shortly to exchanged ideas how EY could help Smartlands to develop some standards in legalization of asset backed tokens.
Thus, it is possible to conclude without exaggeration, that Conference was not only formal networking, but fruitful communication with prominent practitioners and passioners of the industry. This event proved once again that blockchain and crypto ecosystem is well established in Berlin, inspired us to intensify our activity in Germany and consider opening a representative office in Berlin.
