Overview of London Fintech Week: Smartlands Set Up Strategic Partnership with Thistle’s Innovation Hub

The Smartlands team visited London Fintech Week, an event at the forefront of fintech innovation in the UK. Our game-changing platform was featured among international companies exhibiting during the week, including FinTech disruptors, Blockchain and crypto-finance companies and startups. Thankfully, the Smartlands booth was more than well-prepared to deal with the interest we received. Our team took this chance to establish strategic new partnerships in one of the world’s leading financial service ecosystems.

On July 11, the whole day focused on blockchain technology. Smartlands CEO Arnoldas Nauseda dealt with a number of prospective partners including companies such as Societe General, IBM Blockchain, RiskSave, Linklaters, Resolution, Buchanan Capital and many more. On Thursday, July 12th, Arnoldas delivered a keynote named “Smartlands: Asset tokenization is the future of investments”. The interest in Smartlands continued to impress us after the keynote speech. We were delighted that so many attendees and industry influencers stopped by at our booth to find out more about the product as well as share their advice and opinions on how we can fast forward product development.

During the event we set up several important partnerships that will help us to complete the legal framework, when expanding into the UK. With so many fascinating moments, productive meetings and opportunities to mention, we’ve chosen a few important highlights about our important partnership with Thistle and Resolution, which we can share with you.

Cooperation with Thistle Initiatives’ Innovation Hub

Smartlands is going to cooperate with Thistle Initiatives’ Innovation Hub team to expand into the UK market. Thistle Initiatives was established in 2012 with the aim of providing companies operating in the financial services sector with an expert compliance resource, capable of managing both strategic and hands on projects across all regulatory areas. Thistle Initiatives is one of the largest members of the Association of Professional Compliance Consultants (APCC), the body for compliance consultancies which advise firms regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK. The APCC is active in enhancing the professional standards of compliance consultant and sets Professional Standards and best practice guidance for its members to follow.

The Innovation Hub will support Smartlands Platform Foundation in the following ways:

• Support the Smartlands platform through its first steps in establishing its first tokenization case in the UK real estate industry.
• Help improve and establish robust business processes, to enable Smartlands to meet its business goals in the UK in few months.
• Provide legislative assistance with obtaining regulatory compliance in the UK in the near future.

In general, the team had an remarkable experience at the event, setting up partnerships and meeting with many companies changing the ways the finance industry work.

During Blockchain Day at London FinTech Week, one special quote emerged from Jason Kelly, General Manager of IBM Blockchain: “Blockchain is a team sport, played by the all of us to bring the value for our clients.” We couldn’t agree more, and it’s exciting to see how the entire world is exploring more and more how blockchain can disrupt and change so many fields of economy, and to know that our platform is at the forefront of the FinTech industry.
