Smartlands joins the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)

Smartlands is pleased to confirm that we have joined the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) through the Ukraine branch based in Kyiv.

The ICC, headquartered in Paris, was established in 1919 and today, is the world’s largest business organisation with hundreds of thousands of member companies from more than 100 countries. The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) aims to foster international trade and commerce to promote and protect open markets for goods and services and the free flow of capital. At its core, the ICC has three main activities, namely, the establishment of business rules of conduct, dispute resolution, and policy advocacy. The ICC maintains an ongoing dialogue with the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, and many other intergovernmental agencies.

Operationally the ICC has national branches in over 100 countries, including Ukraine, and it is through the Ukraine division that Smartlands has become a member. In Ukraine, the ICC works directly with government ministries to lobby for legislation that will be to the benefit of its members while ensuring that new laws are passed after taking into consideration input from the ICC and its members. This will be particularly useful to Smartlands as a collection of new legislation pertaining to digital assets and cryptocurrencies becomes law in Ukraine.

In Ukraine, the ICC holds monthly meetings either online or in a conference format in Kyiv. These allow for business-to-business introductions and are well attended by the main business groups and companies in the country at a senior director level.

In essence, the ICC gives Smartlands a new sales and marketing channel to promote our asset tokenization platform directly to business leaders across all sectors of the economy. After all, real-estate assets are not just held by real-estate firms; Smartlands expects to find many platform clients from big businesses who own commercial real estate and other assets that can be tokenized, and we will find many of these opportunities through the ICC.

Smartlands’ membership of the ICC is not just related to Ukraine, though. We expect the ICC to be extremely useful to us in Liechtenstein as well and indeed across the whole of Europe as we roll out our asset tokenization activities to multiple jurisdictions over time.

Joining the ICC at this exciting time in our development opens multiple new sales and marketing channels for Smartlands and gives us a voice in the ICC’s government input which will be especially important to Smartlands as we start to operate in the brave new world of digital assets, blockchain and cryptocurrencies. — said Non-Executive Chairman of Smartlands, Martin Birch.
