Smartlands at the International Conference on Agricultural Insurance, Reinsurance and Brokerage

The 4th International Conference on Agricultural Insurance, Reinsurance and Brokerage took place in Belgrade, Serbia on April 16-18th. Insurance is an integral part of assets tokenization, which is why we keep track of the latest developments in the industry of insurance.

Victor Yermak, Director of Business Development at Smartlands Platform and CEO of Skyglyph, took part in the Conference with a speech of “Application of drones for crop monitoring and loss adjustment. Experience in CEE countries”. He highlighted an innovative approach of the drone-based image processing in crop insurance and described the advantages of insurance for small farmers and shared an idea of insurance uberization – leveraging blockchain, Internet of Things and machine learning technologies.

Participation in the conference provides a great opportunity to further improve agricultural audit capabilities and speed up creation of technological partners ecosystem of Smartlands Platform. Moreover, insurance for small agricultural companies and farms brings them one step closer to raising capital and mitigates risks for investors. More than 70 delegates from 25 countries participated in the 3-day Conference, including 35 speakers presenting their talks on numerous topics.

The event brought together leading experts from insurance and reinsurance companies, brokers, underwriting and consulting agencies, banking, financial institutions and service companies to discuss various aspects of agricultural insurance, challenges and new approaches in the agricultural industry.

The participants of the conference also had a chance to take part in a panel discussion “Modern Technology in Agricultural Insurance”. Victor ran a number of one-on-one meetings with potential partners. He discussed the opportunity of prospective cooperation with international weather service company UBIMET to incorporate weather forecasting services to Skyglyph cloud platform.

The experts focused on existing issues in the agricultural industry and available solutions such, as drones engagement and satellite monitoring of the fields in different countries. The Conference was organized by Agroinsurance company, represented by Ian Shynkarenko and Roman Shynkarenko and sponsored by leading insurance companies, including Swiss Re and Munich Re.
